Reviewer Selection Process and Guidelines

The Selection of Reviewers

Before a manuscript enters the Hall of Scholarship, it must be judged by the Guardians of Knowledge — scholars who possess:

  • Mastery in their chosen realm

  • Advanced academic runes (Ph.D. or equivalent)

  • A history of victories in published quests

  • Membership in respected academies

  • A vow of neutrality and honesty

  • Previous service as guardians

  • Time to inspect the manuscript thoroughly

  • Commitment to the ancient ethics of COPE

The Guardian’s Duties (Do’s)

  • Protect the scrolls with utmost secrecy

  • Offer fair and wise counsel

  • Provide thorough insights into strengths and weaknesses

  • Honor the sacred timeline

  • Declare any ties or conflicts

  • Judge the scroll, not its creator

  • Use noble and respectful language

  • Alert the council of any dark practices (plagiarism, deception)

The Forbidden Acts (Don’ts)

  • Revealing sacred writings

  • Speaking to the scroll’s author

  • Delaying judgment for selfish reasons

  • Stealing ideas from the scroll

  • Showing favoritism or grudges

  • Passing the duty to another without permission

  • Focusing only on minor imperfections

  • Using insulting or emotional speech

Guardians who perform exceptionally earn recognition in the annual Scroll of Honor.
